Deep thoughts

From the automotive industry:
The car manufacturers' lawyer, Theodore Boutrous, argued to U.S. District Judge Martin Jenkins that the case doesn't belong in court because global warming is a policy issue.

"Global warming is fraught with economic, political and social issues of global significance," Boutrous said.

"This is a classic case where this is a political issue," he said.
No shit! And if we'd have responsible politicians acting on the basis of the precautionary principle as applied to both global warming and peak oil, our cars would likely have been as fuel efficient as Europe's or Japan's for the past 15 years or so. Who knows, maybe we could even export a couple of cars here and there as a result.
