This is where the money should go
Policies:
The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation is creating a $100 million program to support research intended to encourage policies aimed at reducing the threat of global warming. No matter how often Drudge tells us it's cold in wherever-it-happens-to-be-cold-today and links to articles regurgitating Richard Lindzen's broken record, this is no longer a science issue. Of course scientific skepticism is a vital part of the scientific enterprise, and skepticism should be supported, but when it comes to the broad issue, betting on this:
A warmer climate could prove to be more beneficial than the one we have now....is no longer a defensible position for policymakers to take. Mitigation policies can be begun now. And that won't preclude us from also beginning to prepare for adaptation. As the effects begin to unfold over the coming decades, we will then need to transition into policies that address adaptation over mitigation.
