Energy talks
Just a quick note on Bush's speech today on energy. More will come later as we poke fun at
He's actually sounding pretty good on transportation. I would hope for more incentive / disincentive strategies on the federal level, but we can give up all hope of any Republican ever talking about that. Within that paltry frame of reference, he's not sounding so bad. On his home energy strategy, he's still relying way too much on nookewlar power and clean coal fantasies. Compared to the nuclear initiative he's proposing, spending $150 million on solar research next year is so insignificant as to make one wonder why it was even mentioned. And considering that "clean coal" plants have successfully been in operation for over 10 years while dirty coal has been heavily subsidised--and allowed to get dirtier during this administration--well, we can't even give that the respect of calling it a disgrace.
It's a good start. I mean, it's only been like, what, six years or so.
