Prius Drivers sure play a mean pinball
I remember this argument from back in the electric car days. It seems to have a much more limited applicability for hybrids since the gasoline powered engine is only off at very low speeds or while the car is already decelerating. It's one of those things that's potentially trivial--except for the occasional blind person who's run over by a car they can't hear--but also something that doesn't seem to have any real "solutions" other than attaching bullhorns on top of hybrids to blast Hummer MP3 recordings or simply using the horn whenever possible. Either way, it's one of those things that certain think tanks will love to latch onto and squeeze for everything it's worth.
