Mannix is proposing to reduce the state's shortfall by $1 billion (aren't we 3 billion in the hole?) by "canceling pay increases for teachers and rescinding one-time bonuses promised to state workers and managers in lieu of raises," the big O writes.
Sounds like a great idea: piss off the teacher's union--hey, maybe they'll strike, and we can save money on heating those blasted schools!--AND change the state slogan at the same time: "Oregon: we want poor teachers."
