It's the small steps that over time add up to dumb down a population so that they will eventually believe anything the right-wing extremists want. Today it's teaching creationism in biology class tomorrow it's how global warming is beneficial to species on the brink of extinction...uh, I mean "the slow yet persistent reduction in the number of a particular species that is part of God's will and has nothing to do with human activities"
