The wheels of justice...

...grind exceedingly slowly, especially when it comes to things like this:

"Testifying this week, though, Kent said campaign contributions by timber companies buy political clout. That gains them superior access to forest managers who, on one occasion in the early 1990s, tipped timber giant Weyerhaeuser it was under investigation for stealing trees from a national forest near Klamath Falls, he said.
He said he was astounded by the Forest Service explanation that, 'We have too important a relationship with Weyerhaeuser not to let them know.'"

I remember back in my activist days (short but sweet), this was common knowledge except, of course, amongst the newsmedia that back in the days was promoting the "fair and balanced" view that our forests somehow owe the timber industry a living.
