"Where ideology becomes a negative force is when it seeks to use science to enforce non-democratic ideals and principles. The obvious cases in point here are abortion and stem cell research. The major objectors to such work are almost always those who have already decided they don't like or approve of abortion or stell cell research, and they are casting around for "scientific" justification for their prejudices."
