Defection in climate science

The sad fact about this WaPo story is that the very act of resignation will itself be politicized. The right-leaning cable news networks are desparate for someone who appears less influenced by Exxon Mobil when making sweeping generalizations that global warming isn't this or isn't that. All summer long they've tried to advance Joe Bastardi's position as such since he's someone who's rabidly against the global warming crowd but isn't (yet) a member of the AEI or Cato. Though a google search brings up no evidence for it, I wonder if aptly-named Landsea's father also taught him about the weather of the 1950's.
