SFN action alert

Better late than never, I suppose. Via SFN:

"Support Senator Specter’s Amendment to Increase Funding for NIH!

Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) plans to offer an amendment at 9:30AM on March 16th to the Senate Budget Resolution that would add $1.5 billion to the overall budget for health spending. NIH is funded from this pot of money.  Additionally, the amendment includes $500 million more for education, and is fully offset through a reduction in administrative expenses.

The Budget Resolution establishes overall federal spending levels for the year.  It is critically important that the Senate establish the maximum levels of spending for health programs in their Budget Resolution this year, as budget writers in the House of Representatives targeted health programs for the biggest share of the cuts in their version of the Budget Resolution.

SfN asks you to contact both of your Senators, urging them to vote YES on the Specter Amendment.  Please visit CapWiz, an on-line legislative action center, provided to you by SfN: www.sfn.org/legalert

Thank you in advance for your participation!"
