Death with Dignity

An excellent article on Oregon's Death with Dignity dilemmas in the Oregonian. It's a little over a month old, and was probably massively overlooked by the MSM in their stick-the-feeding-tube-back-in-to-Terri bonfire of the vanities.

The folks wishing to partake in this end-of-life course of action are real people with real concerns; they have been diagnosed as terminally ill and sound of mind; many, including Don James of this article, are Republicans whose party has blown past their wishes for the sake of pandering to the bible-thumpers. Beyond that, fear of litigation has apparently caused a ripple-effect on pain prescriptions, so the overzealousness of the far right might have unintentially caused quite a bit of suffering already, even for those who do not want physician assisted suicide.
