I think it can be said that it's an easy position for Frist to take because he can have it both ways: on the one hand he's supporting cutting-edge research, on the other hand he knows the President will veto it and he'll not have to stand accused of destroying lahf. On the other hand, it's a really significant step for the Senate's "doctor" to come out and support stem cell research and we can only hope that this might lead to a veto-proof majority in September.
