Acta est fabula, plaudite!
Distinguished military historian Martin van Creveld :
"For misleading the American people, and launching the most foolish war since Emperor Augustus in 9 B.C sent his legions into Germany and lost them, Bush deserves to be impeached and, once he has been removed from office, put on trial along with the rest of the president's men. If convicted, they'll have plenty of time to mull over their sins."Ouch! More background here
The whole body of citizens with a sudden unanimous impulse offered to him the title of "father of his country" - first the plebeians, and then the senate. The representative of the senate, speaking for the whole body, said: "Good fortune and divine favor attend you and your house, Caesar Augustus; for when we pray this we know that we are also praying for lasting prosperity for our country and happiness for our city. The senate in accord with the Roman people hails thee 'Father of your Country.'" Then Augustus with tears in his eyes replied as follows (and I have given his exact words): "Having attained my highest hopes, members of the senate, what more have I to ask of the immortal gods than that I may retain this same unanimous approval of yours to the very end of my life?"
--From Suetonius, Life of Augustus
"When I made the decision to remove Saddam Hussein from power, Congress approved it with strong bipartisan support....They also know that intelligence agencies from around the world agreed with our assessment of Saddam Hussein. They know the United Nations passed more than a dozen resolutions citing his development and possession of weapons of mass destruction.... That's why more than a hundred Democrats in the House and the Senate -- who had access to the same intelligence -- voted to support removing Saddam Hussein from power. "

"I extended the frontiers of all the provinces of the Roman people on whose boundaries were peoples subject to our empire. I restored peace to the Gallic and Spanish provinces and likewise to Germany, that is, to the entire region bounded by the Ocean from Gades to the mouth of the Elbe River. I caused peace to be restored in the Alps, from the region nearest to the Adriatic Sea as far as the Tuscan Sea, without undeservedly making war against any people. My fleet sailed the Ocean from the mouth of the Rhine eastward as far as the territory of the Cimbrians, to which no Roman previously had penetrated either by land or sea."

"Much has been accomplished in Iraq, including the removal of Saddam’s tyranny, negotiation of an interim constitution, restoration of full sovereignty, holding of free national elections, formation of an elected government, drafting of a permanent constitution, ratification of that constitution, introduction of a sound currency, gradual restoration of Iraq’s neglected infrastructure, and the ongoing training and equipping of Iraq’s security forces."
