Not that kind!

Conversation with 'godson' (GS) last night:

AJ: What do you want to be when you grow up?
GS: A doctor.
AJ: What kind of doctor? A doctor like where you go to when you're sick, or a scientist like your dad?
GS: Like my dad.
Dad of GS: [gets on the other line] Hmmh, you were telling auntie Anita Job what you want to be when you grow up?
GS: uh-hum.
AJ: Go ahead, tell him. You want to be a doctor, what kind of doctor do you want to be? A scientist like your dad?
GS: No....the other kind....[conversation drifts]...something about pianos. Or piƱatas.

[not GS]

alas, 'tis unglamorous work:
Around 70% of the 11-15 year olds questioned said they did not picture scientists as "normal young and attractive men and women". ...
Among those who said they would not like to be scientists, reasons included: "Because you would constantly be depressed and tired and not have time for family", and "because they all wear big glasses and white coats and I am female".
