The implication of that statement is that the generals criticising Rumsfeld are Democrats intent on brining down the administration. Generals are usually considered apolitical--at least in the public sphere--until they come out and run for office or in some other way disclose their affiliation publicly. Really now, do these guys look like bleeding heart liberals?
