Back BushJesus' General could not have dreamed up a better letter than that!
In response to the Aug. 23 letter to the editor entitled "Draft is a winner." I served in the Air Force under President Reagan, Bush 1 and Clinton. I was proud to serve the first two. As for Clinton, he was and still is a disgrace to the military and this nation.
If Clinton had done his job, we may not have even experienced 9/11. But no, Bill was busy using the White House as a cover for his money raising and immoral activity. While 18 American troops died in Somalia, he was pressing for "Don't ask, don't tell."
While he was busy saying "I did not have sex with that woman ..." two U.S. Embassies in Africa were hit. During his entire reign over the U.S. military, he weakened us to the point that we were viewed as a paper tiger.
I know that it is easy to re-write history when the American people are not paying attention, but let's be real.
Bosnia? Fought from the air. NATO and U.N. troops are still there to this day.
Bill Clinton left this nation the nightmare that we have today. Thank God for a president who is willing to press on to victory and not a cease-fire or truce. Not to make sure his poll numbers are good, but to do what is right for the nation.
Just for historical reference; President Roosevelt, World War II, Democrat and total victory. Then we have Vietnam and the generation that spawned the likes of Clinton, President LBJ and President Nixon, 15 years, 58,000 plus dead. Vietnam is still a Communist nation.
It's about caring for the nation.
The writer ends his letter with fear and a plea for God's help. I say God did help us by sending us GW and my fear is more people thinking like the writer.

Hank adds:Notice how Samuel Trippi--is he related to Joe?--skillfully weaves together the lessons of history..."Just for historical reference; President Roosevelt, World War II, Democrat and total victory. Then we have Vietnam and the generation that spawned the likes of Clinton, President LBJ and President Nixon, 15 years, 58,000 plus dead. Vietnam is still a Communist nation"...and thereby clearly links his earlier remarks..."Bosnia? Fought from the air. NATO and U.N. troops are still there to this day"...to
