Crude oil futures prices keep going up which leads some to believe that newer cleaner alternative energy technologies will be developed soon. Unfortunately, high oil prices are supporting the development of dirty "alternatives" that promise to further spoil the already damaged ecosystems of the north. Facing this depressing situation, drilling ANWR doesn't sound all that bad. As long as public transportation receives greater support and stringent fuel efficiency standards are imposed.
