Oregon and Kentucky

It always amazes me how foreign Oregon appears to the east coast based media.

Today, most cable news channels are talking about how Obama has difficulties getting the white middle class vote because of Kentucky. Oregon doesn't count because they're all just a bunch of elitist greenies out there.

That doesn't make much sense since Oregon is almost entirely white middle class (they're not heavy industry middle class voters, but they're still primarily white middle class folks) and people there are only moderately more "green" due in part to the fact that geography makes them depend on winter rains and summer drought conservation for their electricity.

What Oregon doesn't have that Kentucky does, is white flight voters. And those are the ones Obama has trouble attracting. Not white middle class voters per se.
